British police have arrested three men in connection with the Manchester Arena suicide bombing that left 22 people dead and 64 others injured on Monday. For the first in a decade, the authorities raised the official terror threat level to “critical,” signaling that a strike could be imminent.

Home Secretary Amber Rudd said that the suicide bomber, identified as British-born Salman Abedi, was “likely” to have other accomplices in carrying out the sophisticated assault, writes the BBC.

The deadliest attack in Britain since July 2005 drew sharp criticism from world leaders and prompted France, itself a victim of a string of jihadist assaults, to extend its emergency powers, notes Reuters.
