A researcher duo from two Belgian schools has developed a small, solar-powered device that not only purifies polluted air but at the same time generates clean hydrogen gas, which can be stored and used as an eco-friendly source of energy.

The development comes as big news for environmental enthusiasts as it offers a way to harness energy from air pollution, addressing two major concerns – meeting energy demands and mitigating pollution -- in one shot, writes Tree Hugger.

The device, which relies only on sunlight to degrade air pollutants, could spell an end to smoggy cities, if the process is successfully scaled up for industrial application, writes Mail Online.
