A Korean startup called Monit, has developed “smart diaper sensors” that send immediate alerts to the parents when the baby soils the diaper, thus saving them from discomfited sniff tests while ensuring a timely change.

The puck-sized device, loaded with Bluetooth, tracks ambient temperature, gas and humidity, using a proprietary algorithm to detect if the baby has filled its diaper, reports Fatherly.

The Monit has an edge over other recently unveiled “smart diaper” prototypes as it doesn’t need to be placed inside the diaper, notes Tech Crunch. The non-disposable device doubles up as an air quality and temperature monitor when not in use for “poop sensing.”
