Bolstered by a lucrative federal tax credit, the U.S. wind industry installed 2,000 megawatts of capacity in the first quarter of 2017, posting its best figures for the same period over the last eight years.

Texas, the state that has the maximum wind power capacity in the U.S., topped with the highest installations in the first quarter, writes Reuters.

According to the American Wind Energy Association, project construction and development activity are likely to continue at a good pace until 2020 when the federal tax credit expires, notes Business Insider.
