Tech visionary and entrepreneur Elon Musk recently revealed his ambitious plan of building a 3D network of freeways underneath Los Angeles to fix the traffic woes of the modern metropolises.

The proposed system comprises of underground electric sled platforms, which would lock individual vehicles descending from roadside elevators and zip them to a designated location at a speed of over 130 mph, writes Seeker.

To many critics, the insane idea by the SpaceX founder sounds “sexy” but far from a practical solution to alleviate Los Angeles’ “soul-destroying” traffic congestion, notes Popular Science. Skeptics believe that the plan involves “astronomical costs” besides political and logistical challenges that make it unfeasible.
