European car maker SEAT has teamed up with a Spanish water management company, Aqualia, for an ambitious project that seeks to convert household sewage into biofuel for powering vehicles and utilities.
The five-year project, called Life + Metamorphosis, involves installation of a prototype biogas converter facility at an existing municipal sewage treatment plant, where futuristic technology transforms human wastewater into biomethane gas for direct use in C.N.G. vehicles, notes Seeker.
Aqualia general director Félix Parra says the Smart Green Gas project has the potential to create a million of biofuel daily, which could help an average-sized city run 300 vehicles, eventually making its energy system more flexible and sustainable, writes Express.
