As part of a new ad campaign, Pizza Hut is releasing a pair of sneakers, called Pie Tops, which allow the users to order pies at the push of a button. The high-top sneakers are loaded with a Bluetooth device that syncs with a Pizza Hut mobile app and sends a pre-selected order on pressing the shoe’s tongue.
The sneakers also feature geo-location technology through which deliverymen track the customers wherever they are, notes Fox News. To the disappointment of many pizza/sneaker fans, the company’ crazy offering is a limited edition, with only 64 pairs planned to be rolled out.
A majority of this chunk would end up with influencers and media, just to create buzz and talk value, says David Daniels, Pizza Hut’s vice president of media and advertising, writes Entrepreneur.
