In a reminder of the precarious state of security in Pakistan, a private guard shot dead an Afghan diplomat inside Karachi’s consulate on Monday. The gunman, reportedly motivated by a personal dispute, fired multiple bullets at Zaki Adu, a third political secretary, before being overpowered and arrested.
Afghan ambassador to Pakistan Omar Zakhilwal confirmed the tragic incident on his Facebook account, writes Al Jazeera. A police official said that the attacker was also an Afghan national.
The shooting took place in Clifton district, which is a high-security zone as many foreign missions are based there, notes the BBC.
